ahem…

Dear Taco Del Mar.

My name is Mason Amick, and I have a few suggestions as to the overall success of your company. Firmly, I’ll begin a few of my observations. As do several successful restaurant companies, incorporating windows over the formation of their food for the customer was necessary for their customer image. Such as does Subway, or Quizno’s or certainly Mongolian Grill. And as do you, in contrast to most popularized “Mexican” style restaurants. The appeal was for the customers to feel as though they are witnessing the formation of their sandwiches to ensure their trust in it’s good health. And that is a powerful tactic for several of the powerful giants of the restaurant business today. However, it has a rather unattractive set back if done wrong.

To the nature of the Sandwich companies, making sandwiches were relatively easier to make than tacos, and they can afford to have their food viewed while it was preparing. However, while your customers can view their taco, they can view everything else also. I am referring to your style of utensils used to put the food in the taco shell. Your tool used “scoops” the chicken or rice into a capsule, and takes a measured amount by laying the rim of the capsule flat on the side of the food compartment, and then putting it in the taco shell. That is not attractive, it is destructive.

Secondly, your choice of wrapping the tacos in tin foil is another deficiency. While it looks good compact and relatively basic when served, it detracts from the pleasure of the stay in your restaurant. This being that people must take time to tear off very thinly cut wrappings of tin foil over their food. I have even witnessed more than once in only a few visits to your restaurant, customers frustrated from opening their food that have accidentally spilled their taco over them or into their tray. Let me finally say that the customers have not even began eating their food, this is just the presentation.

Lastly is your trash can issue, customers do not like to waste time looking where to put their trash, or even worse have to individually lift each article of trash into a small hole under the condiments table that you have placed their.
I hope this lays in good hands, I do enjoy to eat at Taco Del Mar often, and only wish to progress my relationship with a good restaurant. I hope you take heed to my letter and realize that my observations are confined to the customer standpoint as well.

Sincerely,
Concerned customer

Wow, Mason can write. I’d like Mindy to take a critical look at this and give it a grade.
