Wow.

November 12th, 2006 by Mason

Ok, so this poem is brilliant in so many ways I can’t help but share it with everybody, Mindy probably knows this all but oh well, anybody else understand this?

Wordsworth: The Solitary Reaper

BEHOLD her, single in the field,
Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.

No Nightingale did ever chaunt
More welcome notes to weary bands
Of travellers in some shady haunt,
Among Arabian sands:
A voice so thrilling ne’ er was heard
In spring-time from the Cuckoo-bird,
Breaking the silence of the seas
Among the farthest Hebrides.

Will no one tell me what she sings?–
Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow
For old, unhappy, far-off things,
And battles long ago:
Or is it some more humble lay,
Familiar matter of to-day?
Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,
That has been and may be again?

Whate’er the theme, the Maiden sang
As if her song could have no ending;
I saw her singing at her work,
And o’er the sickle bending;–
I listened, motionless and still;
And, as I mounted up the hill
The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more.

Interview…

April 25th, 2006 by Stephanie

I have an interview at the Woodland Park Zoo tomorrow. Wish me luck! Hopefully it goes better than my SIFF interview, which took place in a scary concrete art space/interrogation room. Agh.

In other news, I finally saw V for Vendetta, and I liked it. Yay! And apparently the scariest movie anyone could think of at Scarecrow Video was this french movie called “High Tension,” which has a strange twist ending that my roommate and I guessed within the first 5 minutes. This movie was not scary. Does anyone know of any movies that actually are scary? I’d like to watch one, but I guess not much scares me, bwahahaha. (oh, except for the SIFF interrogation room)

Hope y’all have been doing well!

Bonjour!

April 13th, 2006 by Mason

Bounjour man famille! I finished Angels & Demons (a book, the previous installment prior to the Da Vinci Code) by Dan Brown and am currently on the Da Vinci Code now, so far it is very nice.
So with the remaining $$$ that I got for my barrier-shattering swim I am looking at some really neat paintings on ebay that are very nice and would look extra nice on my barren walls. I don’t know if I can put these photos on the website, so sadly I will just have to put links up. boob.

Voila! here are the links to coool painting 1 and cool painting 2

Bad Movies

March 24th, 2006 by Mason

Hey, Weather Man was not good, I would recommend not seeing it.

In other news, V for Vendetta was freaking awesome, I recommend seeing it.

In other, slightly more distant but very pertinant news, I get my bike on Saturday!!

IN more, even more greaterly distant news, I guess like Pluto but a little closer, I got a cool bike computer that logs how many miles ( or kilometers! ) I have rode on my bike, so thats neat.

and I would also recommend buying an airsoft gun, those are also fun.

Three Scattered Thoughts

February 24th, 2006 by Min

  1. I watched Brokeback Mountain today. This was a big step for me. Each time I saw the trailer in theaters, I would begin laughing uncontrollably. I laughed so uncontrollably that my laughter carried over into the next three trailers and embarrassed Tyler. My laughter was induced not because of the gay cowboy plot, but because of how horribly the trailer presented the gay cowboy plot. So overtly serious, so falsely sympathetic to the plight of the gay heifer herders was the trailer that it became comical. Anyway, now I feel properly informed regarding this movie, which will only strengthen my jokes regarding the plight of a star-crossed pair of heifer herders. This will come in handy for any parties or other social events in the near future.

    Next on my list of “the most talked about movies” to watch is Crash. I have Mason’s rave reviews to thank for this addition to my list.

  2. Yesterday, I received two custom orders for neck warmers from people I don’t even know. I’ve hit it big time! Now if only my sales would pick up so I don’t have to find a second job, or if my current job would hire me full-time. It would be nice not to have to play chicken with my loan and credit card payments while waiting for my UW paycheck to be deposited. For the record, I’m horrible at playing chicken with my payments. These past few days were painful because I tripped, fell face-first in the road, and proceeded to be repeatedly run over by the evil that is financial-based, money-making institutions.
  3. Mason will be happy to hear that Mary’s teeth are clean and don’t smell bad any longer. Unfortunately for those who live with this smelly beast, her new special kidney diet dog food smells really bad. Not only does it smell bad, but it has a pervasive odor that wafts throughout the entire apartment. I often fell ill these days, thanks to the pervasive odor that I can’t escape.

Myth Busters

January 2nd, 2006 by Hugh

The Mom and I just watched like 6 hours of Myth Busters. Great fun.
